The history of BKWATA Hajj begins on 17/12/1968, the day when the main council of Muslims in Tanzania (BAKWATA) was officially established by the Muslims of Tanzania so that their body coordinates, manages and leads all the activities of Muslims in the country. Therefore, among the responsibilities of the establishment of BAKWATA, I am quoting as stated in the BAKWATA constitution of 1999, version 2018 section 9(9) is to manage, encourage, or set the procedures for planning 'Hijja (Hajj) and Umrah' and his services.
In that context, the coordination of the worship of HAJJ (HAJJ) AND UMRAH was officially started in 1969 and is still being continued. So let it be known that BAKWATA is the first organization to coordinate, manage and lead Hajj (Hajj) activities in Tanzania.
In the Arabic language, the word "Hajj" means to visit or visit a place for a specific purpose. In Islamic Law, "Pilgrimage" is to visit the ka'aba - the holy House of Allah (s.w.) - in a specific month and day, observing the conditions and performing all the actions that complete the Hajj ritual as directed in the Qur'an and Sunnah. Hajj is obligatory for every Muslim 'Mukallaf' with health and wealth once in his lifetime
The word "Umrah" means to visit. In Islamic Sharia, doing "Umrah" is visiting the holy house of the Ka'abah in any month and any day of the year, in accordance with the conditions and fully performing the acts of 'Umrah which I encourage in special centers (Miqat), to be in Ihram
Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam prescribed for believers as we learn in the following verse: ".....And the Almighty God has taught people to perform Hajj in that House (Al-Kaaba), the one who can make the journey to go there. And whoever denies (does not go with the condition that he is able) then the Almighty God is not a needy person who needs them worlds" (3:9 7). read more...
